Carport to Garage Conversion
My grandmother needed her carport to be more weatherproof, and I needed practice framing my first room. It also served as quite the late birthday present for her and myself (since it gave me a really good excuse to buy a rotary hammer).
We decided to make the long wall half-height and use corrugated plastic sheeting to let in extra light, rather than framing in a bunch of windows or doing electrical work on a line coming from the pole at the street. Turns out framing is REALLY easy and requires much less accuracy than building furniture. This project boosted my confidence for some of the remodeling I'd like to do to my own house.
Good ol' 2x4s, plywood barn-style doors, and corrugated polycarbonate.
